In Memoriam: March 18, 1931 - March 2, 2007
Jeptha (Jep) W. Dalston, Ph.D., FACHE
On Friday afternoon, March 2, 2007, Jep lost his battle with cancer in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. This is a tremendous loss not only to myself but also to all who knew him. For this I am both thankful and humbled. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
In order to continue the efforts of Dr. Dalston's Chapter management services, effective immediately, for the remainder of the year, all Chapter business will be managed by Don R. Gibson, President, Quantum Leadership, Inc. and his staff. The new Chapter business address is as follows:

ACHE-GHC Student Awards & Recognition Program
Dr. Dalston will be honored at our graduate student awards banquet and, as in years past, the Jep Dalston and Don Wagner Scholarships will be awarded and presented by Don Wagner on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 7PM in the Holiday Inn Select (near Greenway Plaza).
Panelists for this Program are:
David J. Fine, FACHE, President & Chief Executive Officer, St. Luke's Episcopal Health System;
Chanda C. Cashen, FACHE, Director of Cardiology, Texas Children's Hospital;
Paul Shank, MBA, Center Director - Strawberry Health Center, Harris County Hospital District; and
Dr. Charles E. Begley, Professor & Co-Director for the Center for Health Services Research, University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston, School of Public Health.
Their topic, "The State of Healthcare in the Houston Market", should provide those in attendance with critical insights from established, nationally known and recognized healthcare leaders.

On Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 7AM, Junior League of Houston, we are most fortunate to have a nationally known leader in our industry, Mr. Gail L. Warden, M.H.A., Professor, University of Michigan, School of Public Health President Emeritus, Henry Ford Health System, speaking to us on this years chapter theme: "Management Matters". This is another "can't miss" event with an opportunity to hear someone from one of the nation's leading healthcare institutions.
